Zuku TV’s Spectacular Launch Party

Zuku was officially launched last Friday during a spectacular party held at the Junction Mall rooftop. The first event of its kind to be held at the mall’s new rooftop marked the launch of Wananchi’s satellite service Zuku TV and the re-launch of the group’s cable offering Zuku Triple play.
All the who’s who in Nairobi attended the party including government dignitaries such as Information Minister Samuel Poghiosio, industry partners, media personalities, musicians and members of the public. Guests were treated to a red carpet welcome with paparazzi clicking away at their cameras as they entered the party zone which was split into three levels. The area was covered in gigantic screens both around the stage and other areas giving off a very visual effect.
Action kicked off around 9pm when Wananchi Group Chairman Mark Schneider pressed down on a remote setting off a fast paced montage about Zuku on numerous screens set-up around the venue. What followed was a spectacular fireworks display and an exciting dance performance.
The night didn’t end there though as Madtraxx took to the stage to entertain the crowd followed by award winning musician Wyre “the love child” who got everyone jumping. Wyre performed a number of his hits song including “Mwanake” with JB, Uprising and Sina Makosa and displayed performance prowess as he came down from the stage to sing and dance with the crowd. If this didn’t get the crowd pumping, Jaguar came in to perform his hit song Kigeugeu which got everyone on their feet. G-Money, DJ Adrian and the 6am DJ’s churned out the hottest grooves the rest of the night as everyone showed off their best moves on the dance floor.
Zuku TV offers a wide selection of entertainment channels including E!, MTV Base, BET and Fox Entertainment and I-Concerts which features live music concerts. The service is available via satellite throughout Kenya. Wananchi’s cable offering, Zuku Triple play offers high speed broadband, cable TV and VoIP all under one affordable bundle. Zuku Triple Play is available in Lavington, Kileleshwa, Kilimani and parts of Langata so far, but there are plans to expand to Westlands and Eastlands in the near future.
